Paul Krugman Praises Paul Ryan’s Original Corporate Tax Cut Proposal; “A Not Stupid Idea”

Nobel laureate Paul Krugman, distinguished professor of economics at the Graduate Center, City University of New York, discusses corporate tax reform with Bloomberg’s Julia Chatterley, Joe Weisenthal and Scarlet Fu on “What’d You Miss?”

“The reform that Paul Ryan originally floated earlier this year… which included the border tax adjustment was a not stupid idea,” Krugman said. “It even has bipartisan support among tax experts.”

“Of course, it being the one thing I’ve seen from Paul Ryan that was not a terrible idea, it died instantly in the political arena,” Krugman noted. “And without the border tax adjustment, there is no way to make a significant cut in corporate marginal tax rates that doesn’t explode the deficit.” …read more
